Seniors' Housing Futures Research Project

Participants, partners and community members are invited to view a video research presentation of the results of Seniors' Housing Futures research study, a multi-year project with the goal of understanding the housing experiences of older adults with lower incomes living in Hamilton.

Jun 10, 2021

The Seniors' Housing Futures study was conducted by Dr. Michelle Wyndham-West (assistant professor, OCAD University and adjunct professor, McMaster University), and Dr. Jim Dunn, (professor, Department of Health, Aging and Society, McMaster University).  Dr. Wyndham-West interviewed participants recruited in downtown Hamilton, who were also invited to take photos, videos and keep a diary of their housing experience.  Our video research presentation is based on the interview transcripts and the materials we received back on the tablets.

Because of COVID-19 we have not been able to hold the in-person feedback sessions we had planned.  Instead, we have created this video presentation to share these results with participants, partners and the community.  We welcome your feedback, including:

  • What do you think we got right?
  • What do you think we missed?
  • What is the most important thing for us to tell the city about aging and housing?
  • What do you think about using technology (such as social media and tablets) in research projects with older adults?

Please contact Michelle at wyndhamm@mcmaster.ca to give your feedback. We’d love to hear from you.
