Ontario Movers Study (OMS)

Our team at McMaster University is being funded by the Ontario Ministry of Long Term Health to examine the relationship between where you live and how much walking you do.

Starting in May 2014, we are doing a survey of about 450 households in the Greater Hamilton and Greater Toronto regions to help us understand the physical characteristics of people’s neighbourhoods and how those characteristics influence choices of when and where those people walk.

The information from this survey will help municipal planners and public health departments learn what types of physical environments are more conducive to supporting physical activity and walking, which can be extremely helpful when making decisions about future community designs.
